The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Solomon Jamiru Esq on Tuesday, 28th May, 2019 on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Nabeela Tunis received a presidential delegation from Ghana headed by the Planning Minister of Ghana, Hon. Prof. George Gyan Baffour at his Tower Hill Office in Freetown.

The Ghana Planning Minister Giving the purpose of his visit, Hon. Prof. Baffour said their visit was to broaden, deepen and strengthening the existing bilateral ties between the two countries and to uphold the assurance in promoting the African Continental. The Ghana planning Minister highlighted the fields of peace, security, trade among others, for cooperation between the two countries.

Welcoming the Minister and his delegation on behalf of the Government and the People of Sierra Leone, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Solomon Jamiru Esq said Ghana and Sierra Leone have always enjoyed closed ties and cooperation. He said the two countries have and will always continue to believe in their best interests to solidify the existing bonds which aimed at broadening and deepening the bilateral ties.

The Hon. Acting Minister thanked the Government and people of Ghana for their tremendous supports given to Sierra Leone during crisis eras especially during the deadly Ebola plague and Mudslide. Hon. Jamiru went on to state that, as Africans our people stand to benefit tremendously from enhanced south-south cooperation. He assured the Minister of Sierra Leone’s relentless commitment in strengthening and deepening bilateral relations with Ghana.

The two Ministers held productive discussions on other bilateral and multilateral issues. Present at the meeting were the Director General of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Al-Hassan Kondeh, Director of Africa, Mr. Momodu Wurrie, Director of Protocol, Mr. Sahr Johnny and the Deputy Director of Africa, Max Charley.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Alie Kabba and the former Director General and Ambassador at- Large Mr. Paul A.S. Minah have officially bid farewell and handed over the ministry to the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mrs. Nabeela Tunis, her Deputy, Solomon Jamiru Esq and the Acting Director General and Ambassador -at- Large, Mr. Al-hassan A. Kondeh in a ceremony held at the Ministry’s main Conference Hall.

Sierra Leone and Guinea Agree to Establish a Permanent Joint Commission

This decision was reached on Wednesday 24th April, 2019 after a series of separate meetings held in Conakry, Guinea, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Sierra Leone, Dr. Alie Kabba and delegation; and the President of Guinea, His Excellency Prof. Alpha Conde, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guinea, Hon Mamadi Toure and the Guinea Minister of Interior, Gal. Bourema Conde.
