Foreign Minister Secures Parliamentary Ratification On Four Agreements….. Says these were President Bio’s Travels benefits.

Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister, Professor David John Francis has today 21st March, 2023 secured Parliamentary ratification on four key agreements between the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Government of Hungary and the Government of the State of Qatar.

The agreements which were ratified includes:

  1. Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Government of Hungary on Economic and Technical Cooperation.
  2. Agreement on the Establishment of a joint commission for cooperation between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
  3. Agreement on Mutual Administrative assistance for the optimal application of Customs law and Repression, Investigation and combating of Customs violations between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
  4. Agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone Concerning the Regulation of the Employment of Sierra Leonean workers in the State of Qatar.

    Professor Francis said the visits of President Bio to Qatar in 2018 and in June 2022 was to showcase Sierra Leone’s untapped opportunities to potential investors and to attract foreign direct investments. He said these bilateral relations have earned Sierra Leone an increase of Hungary Scholarships from Ten to Fifty a year and support to 45,000 Out-of Schools Children by the Qatar foundation for Education, Research and Community Development.

    The Minister in his presentation said the Agreement concerning the Regulation of the Employment of Sierra Leonean workers in the State of Qatar will address the Employment challenges faced by Sierra Leonean migrant workers regarding the protection and promotion of their rights and obligations in the State of Qatar.

    These agreements present a shared vision of cooperation in diverse areas, to concretize our ever-expanding diplomatic ties, and ensure the wellbeing of our people. He said.

    Members of the House of Parliament thanked the Minister for his efforts in rebranding the Country on the Global stage. The agreements according to the members of Parliament were in the internet of the ordinary people of Sierra Leone.
