The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara, has today (4^th October 2017), received the Ambassador designate of the Republic of Liberia with Residence in Freetown, Mrs. Musu Jatu Ruhle; the High Commissioner designate of the Republic of India to the Republic of Sierra Leone with residence in Accra, Ghana, Mr. Berinda Singh Yadav; the Ambassador designate of the Republic of Hungary to the Republic of Sierra Leone with residence in Accra, Ghana, Mr. Andras Szabo; and the Ambassador designate of the Republic of Vietnam with residence in Abuja, Nigeria, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan; in a ceremony held in the Directors’ conference hall, Tower Hill, Freetown.

The Four Ambassadors/High Commissioner Designate presented copies of their letters of credence separately, in accordance with traditional and diplomatic practice.

In their brief statements before presenting their respective letters of credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ambassadors/High Commissioner Designate paid special tribute to the Government, families of victims of the Ebola scourge and the recent mudslide and floods disaster on August 14 in Freetown and its environs. The Foreign envoys also discussed several issues aimed at enhancing the bilateral and multilateral relations with the Republic of Sierra Leone   and further emphasised the need to cooperate on issues of common interest, particularly on political and economic interests.

The Foreign envoys thanked the Minister and staff for the reception accorded them and underlined their interest and full availability for further engagements in broadening and scaling up cooperation in areas such as agriculture, sports, education, energy, and trade.

Welcoming the four foreign envoys designate to Sierra Leone, Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara, wished them success in executing their mandates. He assured them of the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs both at bilateral and multilateral levels.

Dr. Samura M.W Kamara extended profound thanks and appreciation, through the Ambassadors to their respective Governments for the show of solidarity and warm support during the Ebola scourge and the recent mudslide and flood disaster in Freetown and its environs.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation highlighted some of the bilateral achievements and or mutual benefits between Sierra Leone, Liberia, India, Vietnam and Hungary in the areas of education, sports, health, agriculture, solar energy, among others. ‘I am very optimistic that there are still several ways to continue to build upon these relationships especially in the area of trade and investment’ Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara Concluded.

The four Ambassadors/High Commissioner Designate will present their letters of credence to His Excellency the President at State House on Thursday, 5^th September 2017 and Friday 6^th September 2017.

Present at the ceremony were: the Director General and Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Deputy Director General for Policy, the Assistant Deputy Director General for Policy and Technical Cooperation, Directors of various Divisions and Heads of Sections of the Ministry.
