Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation Hosts 3 Days workshop

 

 

(MFAIC Press Office Freetown: Tuesday 1st October, 2019) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation in collaboration with the United Nations office High Commissioner for Human Rights will  organize a three- days workshop on the strengthening of the National Mechanism for Reporting and Follow up and Roll up of the National Recommendations Tracking Database from the 2nd – 4th October 2019, at Ministry’s Conference Room, Tower Hill Freetown.

The objective of this workshop is to provide refresher training to government officials who have been participating in the Government’s UPR work and to help government officials familiarize themselves with the National Recommendation Tracking Database (NRTD) and its key features. The workshop will target government officials/members of government inter-ministerial steering group on human rights.

This workshop was requested by the government of Sierra Leone following the decision of the OHCHR to provide Sierra with the NRTD to assist the General with its human rights reporting work.

The workshop will be facilitated by two staff from OHCHR and a staff from this ministry. The workshop will commence with an opening session on the 2nd October 2019 during which the Government will launch it UPR midterm report.
