Russia Ambassador Bids farewell to Foreign Affairs Minister

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Sierra Leone with Residence in Conakry and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the Republic of Guinea, His Excellency Alexander Bregadze on Tuesday 5th March, 2019 bade farewell to Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Alie Kabba at his Tower Hill office in Freetown.


The Hon. Minister in his brief statement thanked Ambassador Bregadze for his services to Sierra Leone and wished him the best as he concluded his tour of duty in Sierra Leone. Minister Kabba told the Ambassador that he would always remain in the memories of the Government, and people of Sierra Leone as an Ambassador who really helped to strengthen the relationship between Moscow and Freetown. Dr. Kabba expressed appreciation on behalf of His Excellency Brigadier Julius Maada Bio and the people of Sierra Leone to the outgoing Ambassador for his relentless contributions in deepening and strengthening ties between the two nations.
He said Russia’s enormous contributions to the country especially in the area of education is in line with the ‘New Direction’ Government of His Excellency President Bio’s National Development Plan.
Sierra Leone and Russia have been making stringent measures to stimulate trade, economic and humanitarian ties.
The two countries have been enjoying mutual interest in the areas of development cooperation, metal mining sector, energy, trade, fishing industries, health and education.
Russia has also contributed in the educational sector of the country by providing about 2000 scholarships to Sierra Leonean citizens to further their education in Russia.
Russia has also organized seminar for Sierra Leonean Medical Doctors and training for about fifty Military Personnel all in a bid to fortify and deepen the bilateral and multilateral cooperation of the two countries.
